When the corpse of another man is found, a panicking Philippe starts to wonder. Again adapting a novel by Ruth Rendell (whose A Judgment in Stone became La Cremonie) Chabrol is at the peak of his craft, Senta is played by Laura Smet, who was so impressive in Xavier Giannoli's (Eager Bodies) and she is also, incidentally, the daughter of Nathalie Baye and Johnny Hallyday. Philippe is played by Benoit Magimel (The Piano Teacher; The Power of Evil) and arguably one of the finest actors of his generation.
